- Lexus To Unveil A New Model, Refreshed Logo In The Coming Months
At the announcement of the brand’s 2020 sales performance, Lexus announced that the company has plans to unveil a new model and more in the coming months.
“This Spring, we will unveil our new brand vision, along with a new concept, which illustrates our intentions for the future and marking the beginning of the next generation of Lexus. Furthermore, we will launch the first model under our new vision within this year, and we will continue to introduce new models next year and beyond,” said Lexus International President and Chief Branding Officer Koji Sato.
In the accompanying teaser image, the Lexus logo seems to have changed, with the alphabets spread out and a more casual-looking font type.
Being just a teaser image, we should not read too much into it, but with many brands unveiling new logos (for example- BMW, Kia, Nissan, Proton) over the last 18 months, it feels like a repeat of what we have read and seen.
As for the identity of the vehicle in the teaser, the silhouette resemblance would be the LF-1 Limitless crossover, which is said to be the replacement of the Lexus RX model.
However, based on model launch patterns, the NX is the most dated vehicle in the current line-up. It was available since 2014 and just one facelift was done in 2019.
With regards to last year’s sales performance, Lexus achieved a sales volume of 718,715 units, just 6% lower than last year. China saw the largest gains, with 11% increase compared to the year before, reaching close to 225,000 units of sales.
