A disastrous accident occurred today on March 22nd, at a construction site along Sungai-Besi Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE).

The aforementioned accident happened at a route near Puncak Banyan, Cheras and was reported to be caused by an ongoing construction site’s ‘launcher’ crane, which fell from the sky onto a Perodua Bezza.

As of the latest updates, the accident occurred at 8 AM and it involved a total of four victims. Which resulted in three Chinese nationals’ deaths along with a severely injured Malaysian driver.

Right on the spot of the scene, two out of the three Chinese nationals were found dead and the other one was just initially stuck but then died later on, due to the injuries he endured. All of the three victims who passed on were workers of the construction site.

Fire and Rescue’s Operation Movement Centre (PGO) commented, “We received a call on the incident at 8.45am and 25 firemen from Cheras, Tun Razak and Hang Tuah were deployed to the scene.”

According to a spokesperson for SUKE, routes going in and out of the site have been closed by their emergency response team, along with the Fire and Rescue Department, as emergency rescue procedures were taking place.

It is to be assumed that the initial cause of the incident is currently still under investigation.

This is not the first occurrence to have happened along the SUKE construction sites. As previously on March 3rd, two women were also crushed to their death, after parts of a flyover which was still under construction collapsed onto their vehicle.
