The Kelantan Road Transport Department (JPJ) has confiscated eight clone cars of various types within three months this year.

Its director Hanif Yusabra Yusoff said that JPJ managed to seize three Mini Cooper, Nissan Sunny and Perodua Kelisa clone cars in three inspections in separate areas after receiving information from the public.

He said that in the past three months, the most cloned model is the Honda Jazz that was seized, apart from other imported vehicles from Japan.

Additionally, he also said the Honda Jazz car was in high demand especially among young people between the ages of 25 to 45 who bought it for RM10,000 compared to the original price of RM85,000.

Clone cars, like the Honda Jazz are sold at RM 5,000 to RM 10,000. The owners of clone cars are also seen to be daring in advertising cars for sales through social media lately, he said when met up with reporters.

According to Hanif, most owners try to deny ownership of clone cars to avoid being confiscated.
