No More Manual Parking Coupon Payment

The Selangor state government will end the manual parking coupon system in all parking areas under its administration on December 31, 2021.

Chairman of the Standing Committee on Local Government, Public Transport and New Village Development, Ng Sze Han, said the move was considered after the state government decided to fully implement digital parking payments on January 1, 2022.

The parking payment through Smart Selangor Parking (SSP) will be implemented in all local council areas in the state.

"The state government will also create a 'hot zone' parking lot method in key areas or public focus areas by setting a maximum time limit for each booking," he said.

For the ‘hot zone’ or the red zone parking, the parking space cannot be used for more than two hours per vehicle.

"This action has been taken into consideration to give other users the opportunity to get parking spaces in busy and dense areas," he said.

He added that the hot zone fee rate is the same like a regular parking lot but the timing for the rate varies.

For example, a regular parking space is charged 50 sen for an hour, but a 'hot zone' parking space is charged 50 sen every 30 minutes.

However, to facilitate the public who do not have a smartphone or are not residents of Selangor, the e-parking agent system will be implemented. The e-parking system allows agents to make parking payments on behalf of users.
