- Kia Unveils New Design Philosophy and Images of the EV6
Kia Corporation has recently revealed the first images of the exterior and interior design of the EV6.
It is Kia’s first dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV) ahead of the world premiere in March.
The EV6 was designed under Kia’s new design philosophy ‘Opposites United’, which is inspired by the contrasts between nature and humanity. A new visual identity is at the center of this design philosophy, unleashing positive and natural energy, with contrasting combinations of elements and shapes.
With Kia’s first BEV, it boasts a distinctive crossover-inspired design which is also based on the brand’s new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).
“EV6, as the first dedicated Kia EV, is a showcase of human-centered, progressive design and electrified power. We strongly believe EV6 is a compelling and relevant model for the new EV market,” said Karim Habib, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Design Center.
“With EV6 we aimed to create a distinctive, impactful design by using a combination of sophisticated, high-tech features on pure and rich volumes, while providing a unique space as a futuristic EV,” continued Karim Habib.
The Opposites United design philosophy is based on five key design pillars: ‘Bold for Nature’, ‘Joy for Reason’, ‘Power to Progress’, ‘Technology for Life’, and ‘Tension for Serenity’.
Its exterior is a powerful presentation of ‘Power to Progress’. The model is a combination of skills and expertise collected throughout the years, focusing on a sleek and modern appearance. Prioritizing dynamics, the EV6 features characteristics that evokes the spirit of Kia.
Interior-wise, the design is liberated by Kia’s dedicated E-GMP platform which offers increased space compared to previous Kia EVs based on existing model architecture. The model features innovative use of space, creating both unique spatial and driving experience.
EV6 is the result of a collaborative effort between all three studios under Kia’s global design network, located in Namyang (Korea), Frankfurt (Germany), and Irvine (California, United States).
The upcoming model will make its world premiere during an online event this month, stay tuned to Caricarz for more news on the upcoming EV6!
