Malaysians who are looking to travel across the state for Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year, will most likely be unable to do so, as the Ministry of Health (MOH) have proposed for an interstate travel ban.

Decision for the interstate travel ban was made after the MOH noticed that the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic was still at an alarming level.

Health Minister Datuk Dr. Adham Baba said, ”MOH has suggested that all interstate travel be postponed due to the rise and instability of numbers for the daily covid cases. In fact, there are also new variants in the community that are causing Covid-19 infection.”

Last Saturday, Senior Minister (Security), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob described that the MOH needs to make an urgent announcement regarding the interstate travel ban, due to the Aidilfitri celebration.

It is still unknown whether individuals who have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine injections will be given exemption to cross-state for the Aidilfitri celebration.

"The MOH is still waiting for the decision to explain to us whether individuals who have received both doses can be allowed to cross-state or not," said Senior Minister (Security), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He also commented that his party was still waiting for a decision from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United States Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

However, for those working as frontline personnel, cross-state activities are allowed as it is a requirement for them to work.
