Mazda MX-5 RF, the company’s most iconic roadster and winner of World Car of the Year award will be rolling out with some new upgrades for 2021.

It will now be more than just a sporty vehicle, as its infotainment system, the Apple CarPlay, has now been updated to a new Wireless Apple CarPlay.

This new update will be a standard feature for both the AT and MT variants. Other specifications however, they will remain unchanged.

On that note, Mazda will still be offering the car in two variants, which comes in the guise of Mazda MX-5 RF 2.0L AT and Mazda MX-5 RF 2.0L MT.

Pricing wise, with both models fully imported from Japan, the Mazda MX-5 RF has a tag of RM 260, 527 for the automatic variant and RM 258, 591 for the manual variant.

Under the hood, the Mazda MX-5 will still be running with a SKYACTIV-G 2.0-litre engine. The mill can produce an output of 181 hp of power at 7,000 rpm and 205 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm.

All that power generated is paired to a SKYACTIV-MT 6-speed manual transmission for the 2.0L MT variant and a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters for the 2.0L AT variant.

Engineering wise, the MX-5 RF’s engine being paired with its lightweight physique and agile driving dynamics, is able to provide an outstanding power-to-weight ratio that is excellent on any kind of road.

As for the exterior colour, the 2021 Mazda MX-5 gets a new addition of Deep Crystal Blue to its existing colour line-up that includes Soul Red Crystal, Snowflake White Pearl, Machine Gray, Polymetal Gray and Jet Black.

The pricing aforementioned is inclusive of the 50 percent sales tax exemption (SST) which is valid up until June 30th, 2021 and the Mazda MX-5 RF is available for ordering today.
