Ferrari’s Limited Edition V12 Special Series Making Its Existence Known
Ferrari has indulged the masses with a sneak peek of their newest limited edition V12 special series by releasing some of the beast’s official images.
Flaunting the characteristics of Ferrari’s critically-acclaimed 812 Superfast, it represents the ultimate expression of the company’s concept of an extreme front-engine Berlinetta.
It also personifies and defines the company’s 70-plus years of experience by combining performance, form, and function to guarantee a peerless driving pleasure.
Being a Ferrari, its most notable character is the engine and, in this case, it is sporting the latest evolution of Maranello’s legendary 65-degree V12 engine.
Reaching the highest output of any road car engine, the machine is able to generate 818 hp (830 cv) of maximum power at 9,500 rpm.
This new mill features high-tech materials, a redesigned engine, a new valve timing mechanism and a new exhaust system all to deliver the performance levels that are unprecedented in the V12 segment.
Furthermore, the powertrain sees an engineering ingenuity in the form of an independent steering on all four wheels. In turn extends the agility and precision when cornering as well as providing unparalleled responsiveness to the steering inputs.
Also notable, is the labour taken on to reduce the car’s overall weight that was done by the extensive use of carbon fibre on both the exterior and interior aspects.
Plus, installed in the new model is a 7.0 version of the Side Slip Control vehicle dynamics system, which will be a debut feature for the company.
Moving on to the beast’s hide, it has gotten an overall aerodynamic redesign by the Ferrari Styling Centre, which fully expresses Ferrari’s core belief that form must always follow function.
Apart from featuring a redesign that was aimed at maximizing the downforce level, it has been installed with a set of new front air intakes, rear diffuser and new exhaust configuration.
The patented design of the rear screen, now encapsulates vortex generators. This in turn helps to improve the car’s aerodynamic efficiency.
Gazing from a design standpoint, even though this new special model was based from the 812 Superfast, it still brandishes its own characteristics well.
Most noticeable and significant is the approach taken to replace the glass rear screen with a single-piece of aluminium structure.
Moreover, it also sees a design that is fully integrated with the roof, resulting in a backbone effect that accentuates the car’s sculptural forms.
Paired together with the carbon-fibre blade that crosses the bonnet, this design changes the overall perception of the car’s volumes.
Thus, it can be seen with a shorter bonnet that emphasises the width of the car and is sporting a rear end that portrays a more powerful, fastback look.
Besides that, the new rear spoiler design also looks more daunting. It is positioned slightly higher and the significant designing approach also makes the tail look very wide, somewhat horizontal.
Zooming inside, its interior architecture resembles that of the existing 812 Superfast. Carrying on the main dash and door panel interfaces and volumes, including the signature diapason motif.
Albeit, making the design its own, the door panel has been redesigned to reduce weight along with other elements of the interior.
Said design combined with the introduction of the H-gate theme on the tunnel, embellishes the cockpit with a sportier, more modern edge finish that reflects the car’s racing spirit.
To wrap up, Ferrari’s new limited edition V12 special series will be the ultimate expression of Ferrari DNA by embodying exclusivity, a racing soul and the pinnacle of automotive innovation all together.
