Nissan Motor Co Ltd has unveiled the new 2022 Nissan GT-R NISMO. The GT-R NISMO, along with a special edition version , is set to launch in Japan in October.

“The GT-R NISMO has always been an ongoing pursuit of ultimate driving pleasure. We take a holistic approach, seek precision performance through a meticulous balance of engine components and shaving weight. It incrementally evolved the GT-R’s appearance to deliver the ultimate balance of power, performance and excitement to our customers,” said chief product specialist of GT-R Hiroshi Tamura.

Both of the models 2022 GT-R NISMO will be offered in the NISMO-exclusive NISMO Stealth Gray body color while the special edition added an exclusive clear-coated carbon fibre hood and 20-inch Rays aluminium forged sport alloy wheels. Apart from that, it has a carbon fiber hood that is 100 grams lighter than the normal GT-R.

At the heart of the GT-R NISMO houses the VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 with GT3 race car-supplied turbochargers, that delivers 600 hp and 652 Nm of torque with six-speed dual clutch transmission to all its wheels.

The built-to-order 2022 GT-R NISMO special edition utilizes new high-precision, weight-balanced parts including the piston rings, connecting rods, crankshaft, flywheel, crank pulley and valve springs dialed in with tighter tolerances. It delivers snappier revs and quicker turbo spooling.

Each engine is handcrafted by its own takumi technician. The takumi certification plate on the engine is also in an exclusive colour.

The Japanese carmaker also collaborated with McDonald’s to create a miniature toy car Nissan GT-R NISMO that will be available as the “Tomica Happy Set”. The set will be on sale for a limited time starting on April 30, 2020.
