One Of A Kind Rolls-Royce Receives Special Treatment At The Home Of Rolls-Royce!

An unique, one-of-a-kind Rolls-Royce SRH recently returned to the company’s Global Centre of Luxury Manufacturing Excellence, at Goodwood, for some much-needed TLC.

The Rolls-Royce SRH is owned by St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester, where it has an important role: to allow young patients from the paediatric day surgery unit to drive themselves to the theatre when their operation comes rather than walking or being in a trolley. This idea is aimed to make the anxious, intimidating moment into an enjoyable experience for the children and their families.

The car was built in 2017 when Rolls-Royce was asked if they were able to repair the original theatre transport, an electric plastic Jeep. Instead, the brand offered a new one, per Rolls-Royce standard.

Since its introduction, the car has transported over 2,000 bold youngsters in authentic Rolls-Royce comfort and style. However, its unique working conditions, being routinely driven down corridors by unlicensed children in a state of frantic excitement, has taken a toll on the car's stunning Bespoke bodywork and paint.

The car was brought to the Home of Rolls-Royce for its first 100,000 mile* service, which was meticulously performed by professionals from the Bespoke Team and various technical and craft departments to restore it to its original condition.

The Rolls-Royce SRH features a Bespoke bodyshell with the iconic Pantheon grille, matching two-tone finishes for both interior and exterior, custom aluminium footwell, as well as handcrafted pieces such as 3D-printed dash, wheel caps, and spacers. The vehicle is completed with a laser-etched RR badge and a Spirit of Ecstasy mascot. Electric power offers a noiseless driving experience on par with any Rolls-Royce, with a speed limited to 4 mph rather than the usual 155 for the road-going counterparts.

In total, 400 hours were spent on the completion of the project, with work undertaken in colleagues’ own time.

“A huge thank you once again to the amazing team at Rolls-Royce for this wonderful support to St Richard’s Hospital. This very special car continues to bring joy, smiles and a positive hospital experience for young people and their families.” said Love Your Hospital, the dedicated charity for St Richard’s, Worthing, and Southlands Hospitals head of charity David Clayton-Evans.

The car has now been returned to the Hospital following its service and repairs, to resume its modest yet transformative responsibilities.
