Sneak Peek Of The 2022 Maserati Grecale: Does It Resemble the Alfa Romeo Stelvio?
A prototype of the 2022 Maserati Grecale was revealed during a test drive by Stellantis chief executive officer Carlos Tavares. Announced last fall, the vehicle is said to be a crossover between the Levante and Grecale.
The Grecale will be produced alongside the Alfa Romeo Stelvio at Stellantis' plant in Cassino, Italy. Because the Grecale is based on the Giorgio platform, which also underpins the Stelvio, the Grecale's features are similar to those of the Stelvio.
With the prototype camouflaged from head to toe in a vinyl wrap that plasters “Grecale” everywhere, it also features five-spoke wheels shod with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric SUV tires. This compound, while designed to increase grip, falls short of the Pirelli P-Zeros found on the Stelvio Quadrifoglio.
It is unsure on what internal combustion engines will be offered for the Grecale, but like all new Maseratis, the crossover will most likely offer the battery-electric power option which would probably be available after its launch.
The Grecale is expected to debut before the year’s end as a 2022 model. In terms of competition, the vehicle would be up against the Porsche Macan and high-end versions of the Jaguar F-Pace, Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, and BMW X3.
