- The Clock Is Ticking… The BMW 2-Series Coupe Is In Sight!
The anticipated 2022 BMW 2-Series Coupe was teased in a series of camouflaged photographs ahead of a major announcement predicted in July 2021.
It noted that the coupe is on its final stretch as it enters the final phase of the series development process with dynamic testing and tuning of its drive and suspension systems.
Several unique selling points are featured in the 2-Series Coupe: a rear-wheel-drive setup, an almost 50:50 balanced axle load distribution, increased static torsional stiffness and a chassis technology designed for dynamic driving.
BMW has also verified that the M240i will have a more powerful turbo 3.0-litres inline-six engine along with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. This allows the vehicle to produce 382 horsepower with fuel consumption recording at 8.2 l/100km.
One of the vehicle’s highlights is the vehicle concept, which significantly increases track width at the front and rear axles. As a result, body roll and wheel load fluctuations are reduced dramatically during sporty cornering.
Stroke-dependent dampers are equipped as standard, which aids in optimizing the balance between ride comfort and sportiness. When going through larger bumps, body movements are controlled with higher damper forces.
An Adaptive M Chassis is available as an option, which offers the possibility of activating the appropriate mapping for both sporty and comfort drives.
The Variable Sports Steering is also available as an option, where it combines optimised precision with less effort when steering. In addition, the body design ensures air-flow-optimised performance, with lift on the front axle reduced by 50 percent compared to its predecessor.
More information is expected to release in late July or early August, and the 2-series is likely to appear in U.S. dealerships this fall.
