Driving Tests Delayed For So Long Due To The Pandemic? Candidates Can Start Getting Ready To Get Back On Track!

The previously prolonged Movement Control Order has resulted in many candidates having to postpone their driving tests.

To resolve this issue, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has come up with a solution so that all tests that have been delayed at the 232 driving institutes nationwide, involving a total of 462,124 candidates, can be completed before 2022.

According to JPJ Deputy Director General of Planning and Operations Aedy Fadly Ramli, depending on the needs of the institute, the number of testing officers will be increased up to 20 percent from the original number to achieve this target.

"Besides that, we will also increase the daily quota of candidates to be tested at each driving institute. The number varies according to the capacity of the premises, therefore, the number of additional testing officers will be according to the needs of each institute," he said.

In addition to that, a total of 530 testing officers nationwide, as well as driving institutes, have been informed to give priority to candidates with tests that have long been delayed due to the Movement Control Order.

At the same time, JPJ will conduct regular monitoring at each driving institute to ensure that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the National Security Council (MKN) are complied with.

"Monitoring is also carried out by the driving institute's inspection unit to detect offences such as accepting non-citizen candidates, installing tinted mirrors on vehicles and not updating the list of vehicle certificates," he said.
