A mechanic was crushed to death after an Exora fell off a lift and hit his body in a workshop in Kampung Bukit, Bayan Lepas, George Town.

The victim, Muaz Mat Isa, 31, was in the middle of repairing the MPV before it hit half of his body.

Bayan Baru Fire and Rescue Department operations officer Helmirizal Che Morad said the department deployed a team of firefighters to the scene after receiving a distress call on the incident.

“Upon arrival, we found a man crushed under a Proton Exora he was repairing, causing half of his body to be pinned under the vehicle,” he said.

He added that the firemen conducted an extrication exercise by using rescue tools.

The body was sent to Balik Pulau General Hospital for a post mortem purpose.
