Vehicle convoy marshals are strictly prohibited from handling traffic control without the presence of police.

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim, said that deployment of a marshal in any convoy must have valid permission from the police.

“Every application made to us must come with valid reasons. Otherwise, action could be taken against individuals who control traffic without permission from police”, he added.

On Tuesday, police arrested two men who acted as marshals for a superbike convoy.

The men aged 26 and 27 have interrupted public vehicles at the Sua Betong traffic light in Port Dickson.

Their actions were recorded in a one-minute video that went viral on the internet on Nov 20.
