Apple’s Self-Driving Test Fleet Adds More Drivers, Launching Of The Apple Car Still Due In 2025
Apple is recently working on upgrading its self-driving car fleet, and to our surprise, the company has quietly added more drivers, bringing the overall count to 137 drivers, from 54 drivers in May.
It has been rumoured that Apple was planning to launch the Apple Car in 2025, and it seems that it is still on schedule.
According to autoevolution.com, the internally called Project Titan development has reached a point where Apple has to discuss manufacturing deals with partners. Unfortunately, for the iPhone maker, this is where the whole thing got way too complicated.
It has also been reported that Apple wanted to cooperate with a traditional carmaker to monitor and work on the process because they believe that a conventional carmaker possesses the maximum capability to handle the manufacturing process.
Several negotiations are being held with a series of carmakers, including Hyundai, but nothing was successfully executed because nobody wanted to become a contract manufacturer for Apple.
However, the joint venture between Magna and LG seems to be in an excellent place to secure the contract from Apple. Still, the organisation is also believed to be exploring other options.
