This was to ensure that users will not be affected with the actual global price. "The government will continue to monitor the impact of crude oil price fluctuations and take appropriate measures to safeguard the well-being of the people," said the Ministry of Finance.

This is in accordance with the&nbsp;<a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/09/pmx-rm199-ron95-from-30-sept-mykad-based-access-non-citizens-rm260" target="_blank">BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95)</a>&nbsp;subsidy programme.For the unsubsidised RON95 (Non-Malaysian), it sees a 6 cent decrease. The price is now set at&nbsp;RM3.16 per litre.Diesel cuts down by 8 cents, setting its retail prices in Peninsular Malaysia at&nbsp;RM2.94 per litre&nbsp;(Euro 5 B10/B20).Rates for diesel in East Malaysia remains at&nbsp;RM2.15 per litre&nbsp;(Euro 5 B10/B20).That said, these prices take effect from midnight tonight, until the next price announcement from the Ministry next Wednesday, 31 December, 2025.

Even with the surge, analysts are keeping a cautious eye. BIMB notes that subsidy changes, tighter household budgets, and tough competition could slow things down.&nbsp;"But new EV launches by local automakers should help keep steady demand," it said.&nbsp;

The situation is a bit like 2015, when a tax incentive sent car sales soaring before dropping the next year. This year, EVs are already over 40,000 units sold, nearly double last year’s 22,000, thanks to the fully imported tax break.Looking ahead, excise duty hikes next year could push prices of locally assembled vehicles up 10% to 30%, while tax exemptions for local EVs remain until 2027.&nbsp;

Authorities estimate that more than 2.2 million vehicles will be entering the state over the coming weeks, making it one of the busiest festive stretches of the year.According to Penang Police Chief Datuk Azizee Ismail, <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/09/penang-traffic-woes-persist-despite-ptmp-penang-gerakan" target="_blank">the projection is based on traffic trends seen during past major festive seasons,</a> alongside the ongoing Penang Festival, which runs from Dec 6 until Jan 10, 2026 and continues to draw visitors from across the country.

Nationwide, traffic volumes are also expected to climb sharply. Police anticipate around two million vehicles per week using major highways during peak holiday travel, with routes leading to Penang among the most heavily used. "Traditionally, festive seasons see about 2.2 million vehicles entering or passing through Penang via the first and second Penang bridges, and this year is expected to follow a similar pattern," he told Bernama.Motorists should be prepared for serious congestion, especially at the main entrance of the Penang Bridge. Traffic is expected to be particularly heavy today and tomorrow, boosted by the government’s 50% toll discount, which tends to encourage more people to travel at the same time.

More than 2.2 million vehicles are expected to enter Penang during the Christmas season and school holidays.
