A 77 kWh lithium-ion battery is housed within the ID. Buzz's sandwich floor and powers the single drive motor. This can be charged at 11 kW AC wall boxes or public charging stations, or up to 170 kW at DC fast-charging stations.

With the latter, charging from 5% to 80% can be completed in about 30 minutes. Volkswagen has not disclosed battery range, but the ID.3 and ID.4 achieve 550 km and 520 km in this single motor, 77 kWh battery configuration, respectively.

The environmental friendliness factor of the ID. Buzz is bolstered by the use of vegan and recycled materials. With the exclusion of any leather or materials of animal origin, upholstery in the ID. Buzz is made with substitute materials with “similar properties and feel,” says Volkswagen.

The ID has security features. Buzz is made up of the Car-2-X local warning system, which uses signals and transportation infrastructure to receive alerts about nearby hazards. Front Assist (AEB) and lane keeping assist are also standard.

These are joined by the optional Travel Assist with Swarm Data, which aids in partially automated driving across the vehicle's entire speed range, and a Memory Function, which allows automated parking on a previously saved route.

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo will go on pre-sale in Europe in May, with sales beginning in the northern hemisphere in the autumn.
