- Honda's Retro Scrambler CL250 is expected to arrive in 2023
Honda's plan to launch an all-new CL500 scrambler based on the engine and frame of the Rebel 500 was previously revealed by Japanese publication Young Machine.
The CL500 rumour has been circulating in Japan for some time, but it wasn't until recently that Honda essentially confirmed the new retro scrambler by filing trademarks for the CL500.
However, new evidence suggests that Honda intends to release a smaller CL250 alongside the 500cc model.
The smaller retro scrambler, like the CL500, will use the same engine and chassis structure as the Rebel 250, which is currently on the market in Asia.
Honda Thailand recently filed a trademark application for the CL300 name because that is where Honda produced the Rebel 300 and Rebel 500.
Honda has also applied for the naming rights to the CL500 in several other countries, including Thailand and Australia, indicating that the new model will most likely be released later this year.
Meanwhile, the 249cc single-cylinder engine found in the Rebel 250 is expected to produce 25.6hp and 22Nm in the upcoming CL250.
