- The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Teased With A Concept-Like Silhouette
Hyundai has released a concept sketch of the upcoming Ioniq 6 electric sedan to further tease the car.
The South Korean automaker has been open about the fact that the Ioniq 6 will resemble the Prophecy Concept, which was unveiled in March 2020. This sketch confirms that this will be the case, as the profile of the Ioniq 6 is nearly identical to the concept.
The curvaceous silhouette of the car and its large wheels are key elements of the EV's design as seen in this teaser. It also has a large ducktail-style rear lip spoiler, which is similar to the Prophecy Concept's spoiler. The concept car's rear overhang appears to be nearly identical to the production car's.
Other key exterior design elements of the Ioniq 6 will include pixel-style headlights and taillights similar to those found on the Ioniq 5 and the new Staria.
Hyundai has yet to reveal the interior of the car, but a prototype was spotted in Korea last year, giving us a taste of what to expect from the cabin. That prototype featured digital cameras in place of traditional wing mirrors, as well as a floating centre console that could slide back and forth, similar to the Ioniq 5. The vehicle will also feature a digital instrument cluster, an advanced head-up display, and a large infotainment system, as seen in other Hyundai models.
The Ioniq 6 will be built on the same E-GMP platform as the Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and Genesis GV60. Hyundai has previously stated that it will have a 73 kWh battery pack and two different powertrains. The first will have a single 215 hp electric motor, while the second will have a dual-motor system with a combined 308 hp. Hyundai is thought to be aiming for a range of more than 300 miles (482 km).
