Singaporean's $220k Civic Found in Putrajaya With New Paint Job 5 Days After It Went Missing
A Honda Civic owned by a Singaporean that went missing in Genting Highlands on July 16 was found yesterday and had been freshly painted.
The Honda Civic Type R, which was initially painted sky blue and was registered in Singapore, was discovered yesterday at around 7.50 p.m. in Putrajaya at a condominium parking lot.
On July 15, about 12.40 p.m., the car owner, a 28-year-old operations executive, parked it in a parking lot at the Highlands resort, according to Bentong police chief superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar.
According to Zaiham, the owner reported the automobile missing to the police as soon as he realised it was gone, which was at 6 o'clock the next day. Yesterday at around 7.50 p.m., a security guard in Putrajaya discovered the stolen car parked in a condominium parking lot and called the police.
"Investigations revealed the vehicle was spotted entering the condominium area at about 6am on July 16. Police have obtained the CCTV footage from the premises to investigate and track down those responsible for driving the car into the condominium parking area," he said.
The owner of the car had been notified about the discovery of his vehicle.
The car owner previously told The New Paper that he would prefer to get his three-year-old car back over filing a total loss insurance claim, as the latter would only pay him a portion of the car's original retail price.
"The time and effort that I have put into maintaining my vehicle is really more than what the insurance would pay," he said.
He was even willing to pay the thieves in return for his car, in the event they are tracked down.
