According to Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, small businesses, organisations, and individuals who wish to purchase petrol and diesel from gas stations in drums or other suitable containers in quantities exceeding 20 litres must submit an application for a special permit under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

Purchases under 20 litres, including emergency circumstances, are permitted without a special permit, according to him.

He said this in a statement issued yesterday to address reports in accordance with the purchase of petrol and diesel using drums or containers without authorization under the act.

According to Nanta, the Control of Supplies Act of 1961 mandates that gas stations obtain a license before they can sell petrol and diesel.

"petrol stations are not allowed to sell diesel and petrol of all grades except when it is filled into the original tank of the vehicle or which has been approved by the relevant agency; and parties authorised by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP), among others", he added

Nanta also emphasized that, people who are authorised to purchase gasoline and diesel through a special authorization may do so using drums or other suitable containers in accordance with the daily quantity permitted.

According to him, forklift operators, people working in the farm and cattle industries, people operating in the food industry, people living in rural areas, people who utilise water transportation, and part-time fishermen (not e-nelayan card holders) are all eligible for the special permit.

Nanta stated that the special permit application can be submitted through the Mysubsidi Special Permit system at http://permitkhas.kpdnhep.gov.my or at any KPDNHEP office.

He also noted that the special permission will be approved in fewer than seven days.
