- To Be Assembled In The U.S With A New Base Model, The 2023 Volkswagen ID.4
![]()
The 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 electric crossover will start production and arrive later this year in the United States, along with a new base model.
All of the American-market ID.4 2023 models which pack the 82-kWh battery with 77-kWh of capacity will be fully assembled at the company’s Chattanooga, Tennessee, factory.
This will be followed with an introduction of a new base model, a 62-kWh battery pack option with 58-kWh of usable capacity.

The actual prices and specifications are still unknown, but according to the company, the 62-kWh version will be priced lower than other ID.4 models.
Be it so, with the 82-kWh ID.4, it offers a range of up to 280 miles (451 km), meaning the new model can be expected to offer more than 200 miles (322 km) of EPA-rated range.
That said, currently all ID.4s sold in the U.S. have been imported from VW's Zwickau, Germany, factory, which also builds other models based on the same MEB platform.
