- Daihatsu Ayla EV, twins of Perodua Axia?

Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) unveiled the Daihatsu Ayla EV concept model at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2022 which took place in BSD City.
As the name proposes, it is a Perodua Axia twin for the Indonesian market that has already been converted into a fully electric car (EV). The A-segment hatchback also found to have another twin sibling recognized as Toyota Agya.

Ayla EV receives a 1.2 litre engine compared to the Axia in Malaysia that is powered by a 1KR-VE 1.0 litre engine to an electric motor.
Although the fuel tank has been replaced with a battery, chassis and suspension should be able to match with a heavier battery.
“By exhibiting this vehicle, Daihatsu will communicate its approach to promote the sustainable spread of practical electric vehicles to visitors. It will also convey its corporate commitment to contribute to the realisation of carbon neutrality in Indonesia," stated Daihatsu.
What you should know about Ayla? Here are the details:
• 60 kW or 80.4 hp electric motor
• EV battery with a capacity of 32 kWh
• Can travel as far as 232 km
• Looks futuristic
• Headlights have LED strips
• LED strip connected with Ayla Logo
• Vertical daytime running lights
• Honda e-style side mirrors
• Set of aero rims with a two-tone finish
• Digital instrument panel

While Ayla is grabbing attention in the market, is Perodua about to launch an Axia EV soon?
Although not on the list, perhaps from today Perodua can already consider starting the production of the Axia EV model.
