- No Drones Allowed on Merdeka Celebration Day this wednesday!
Upcoming Malaysia’s Independence Day this Wednesday, the public is strongly advised not to fly any drones around Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.
The ban was issued for safety reasons as Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) planes will be flying low in Dataran Merdeka airspace during the event. More than that, flying drones could be risky on that day and a warning was issued to avoid any harm to visitors.

The matter was spread by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) through a post on its official Facebook. One of the main attractions during the celebration would be the aerobatic flight of RMAF fighter jets and drone owners might use this opportunity to record using their drones. Hence, a warning letter has been released.
Anyone who disobeys the order will be fined not exceeding RM50,000 or imprisoned for a period not exceeding three years or both. The rules and regulations for drone activities in Malaysia are subject to Section 4 of the Civil Aviation Act 1969 (Act 3), Regulation 98, 140 to 144 of the Malaysian Civil Aviation Regulations 2016, and the Civil Aviation Directives (CADs).
