- Malaysia still has less than 1,000 EV charging stations - MOSTI

Recently, MOSTI has stated the total amount of EV charging stations in Malaysia calculated not more than 1,000 units nationwide.
According to Deputy Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Datuk Ahmad Amzad Hashim, the total number of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the country is still low.
As the ministry is looking into this matter, 5,000 EV charging stations should be installed this year.
However, the targeted units of EV charging stations have not been fulfilled.

As reported, the ministry continues to focus on big cities although they have been notified from other states to build more charging hubs which allow vehicles to travel from state to state.
Efforts are currently underway, with the government convening a meeting of all stakeholders. This will enable us to investigate ways to increase the number of charging stations," he explained.
MOSTI claims to emphasize technology that allows speedy solutions to increase the number of charging stations which is currently lacking along with various types of research being conducted including research on battery energy storage facilities.
