During the DASH Expressway launch earlier today, caretaker Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob made an announcement that the government has agreed on a proposal to restructure four major highways concession to be placed under Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas).
The highways involved are, Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH), Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE), Lebuhraya Kemuning-Shah Alam (LKSA) and Kajang Dispersal Link Expressway (SILK). The toll fare reduction will come into effect starting 20th Oct 2022. As for Lebuhraya Kajang-Seremban (Lekas) and Sungai Besi Expressway (Besraya) under IJM Corporation, the toll reduction would begin from 1st Jan 2023.
However, the full details with regards to the amount of toll reduced and more importantly if there would be an extension of the concession period is still announced. According to Ismail Sabri, through this restructuring exercise the government would save RM8.8-billion in compensation payouts to the concession holders.
