Death of Drag Race Contestant

The Battle of The King (BOTK) 2022 race, which was held near at the Terengganu Racing Circuit, Gong Badak, was called off immediately after one of its racers died during the race.

The organiser of BOTK 2022, MUSC Motorsport, announced the incident on its official Facebook page. More than that, the racing series which was suppose to end the next day has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date.

Drag racer Apeh Jamal, or real name Muhamad Hafez Jamal Jamaludin, age 40 years old  died at 11.35 a.m. this morning while competing in the BOTK 2022 drag race. 

The victim died from serious injuries sustained when the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo he was driving skidded across the race track before collapsing into a tree. 

ACP Abdul Rahim Md Din of the Kuala Terengganu District Police confirmed the incident. As a mark of respect, the management, all programme partners including the drag team have decided to postpone the BOTK 2022 event to a more convenient date.
