- In-Car Gaming, BMW And AirConsole’s Collaboration
BMW x AirConsole, In-Car Gaming
Attention all gamers and drivers. BMW and AirConsole, an online video game system, have announced an alliance to bring gaming into vehicles starting next year.
The system can be played directly from BMW's large infotainment screen, where the video games are delivered via over-the-air (OTA) software function.
Games that will be offered in the catalogue can be played solo and multiplayer, which players can control using a smartphone.
BMW Group’s senior vice president, Stephan Durach, said, " This new technology can make the situation of waiting in the vehicle, for example while charging, a pleasant time."
Working it is quite simple, players only need a smartphone that will be used as a control device, and also a BMW Curved Display as a screen.
Once the connection is successfully made by scanning the QR code, players can simply proceed to 'play' the selected video game.
That said, would consumers be willing to fork out more money for a vehicle that has a built-in video game technology?
