On track and excelling ahead, Volkswagen successfully distributed 500,000 EVs from the ID. family worldwide, since the first ID.3 model rolled out in October 2020.

Outstandingly, VW has managed to achieve its production target a year earlier than expected, despite the persistently strained supply situation.

In fact, this half-a-mil achievement consisting of the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5 and ID.6 models prove that VW’s EVs are well received by customers.

Volkswagen’s board member for marketing, sales and after sales, Imelda Labbé, remarked, “We are on track with our electric mobility campaign and our success story continues. Our focus has not changed. We want to make Volkswagen the most desirable brand for sustainable mobility. We are doing our best to fulfil the 135,000 ID orders for our customers as soon as possible. However, due to the situation regarding spare parts supply, we have to keep readjusting our production targets.”

Speaking of, by 2030, EVs will dominate 70% of VW's sales in Europe, before reaching its target of 100% EV sales on the continent in 2033.

Likewise in the USA and China, the company is targeting an electric vehicle share of more than 50% for the same period.

“Norway is the forerunner in electric mobility. The ID.4 topped the registration statistics there in October. This example shows the ID. family product portfolio matches the needs of our customers,” she stated.

Overall, Volkswagen is also currently working hard to ensure that all of its models are updated, and will launch 10 new EV models by 2026.

Labbé concluded, “Volkswagen will have the broadest portfolio of electric vehicles in the automotive industry. From the entry-level e-car with a target price of under EUR 25,000 (MYR 117,630) to the new flagship Aero B, we will have the right offer in every segment.”
