The Beijing International Automobile Exhibition will not be held this year owing to the country's COVID-19 crisis, the organizer of China's most major auto show announced on Thursday.
Due to an increase in COVID cases in China, the organizer had earlier postponed the auto exhibition, which was originally planned to take place in late April.
The trade fair in the world's largest auto market alternates between Beijing and Shanghai each year and has typically drawn both international and domestic automakers such as Volkswagen Group, General Motors, Toyota, and Geely.
It is frequently used to debut new models, while some new electric vehicle brands, such as Nio, have moved significant vehicle introductions to separate events, largely online.
For the record, The Beijing auto show was also postponed from April to September in 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
