BYD Atto 3 EV Hits 1,000 Orders Just 10 Days After Launch

BYD SD Motors Malaysia, importers and distributors of new upstart Chinese EV brand BYD (Build Your Dreams), have gotten perhaps the dream start to their endeavour. Though the firm had only just launched the BYD brand officially in Malaysia earlier this month, the reception has been stellar to say the least.

That last fact is made more evident today as the brand took to Facebook and announced receiving its 1,000th booking for the BYD Atto 3 – the first BYD-branded EV model launched locally. The fact that said milestone was surpassed just 10 days since the order books first opened is also noteworthy.

Additionally, early birds are poised to receive their cars beginning Q1 2023. On top of which, every unit sold during the launch event gains both a portable home charge plus a V2L extension cable as complimentary gifts, as well as RM 1,000 worth of charging credits.

This initial launch promotion ought to go well with the Atto 3’s somewhat impressive specifications too. Two variants are available, both featuring the same 203 HP and 310 NM front-mounted electric motor juiced by either a 49.92 kWh (Standard) or 60.48 kWh (Extended) versions of the BYD brand’s proprietary LFP ‘Blade’ battery packs.

Compatible with both regular AC and rapid DC charging, the Atto 3 boasts a claimed maximum travel range of 410 KM (Standard) and 480 KM (Extended) on a single charge – based on NEDC standards. Coupled with the stylish design inside and out, premium amenities present, plus a sleuth of advanced driver assistance (ADAS) laced, it all makes the RM149,800 (Standard) and RM167,800 price tags it commands all the more desirable too.

As for its network, BYD SD Motors Malaysia sees its first BYD showroom located in TREC Kuala Lumpur opening its doors this month. It will form an initial network with new outlets in Ara Damansara, Penang, Johore that are set to open sometime next year.

The firm ultimately aims to have 20 outlets in total opened and operating by the end of 2023, with said effort costing an investment worth RM500 million.
