MRT Putrajaya Line Phase Two Operational March 2023, Total Line Spans 56.2KM
Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) just released a press statement to inform the general public that the construction works for MRT Putrajaya Line Phase Two from Kampung Batu MRT Station to Putrajaya Sentral MRT Station has been completed and is currently in the operational readiness phase.
The 38.7 km-long section of the Phase Two alignment, which consists of 15 elevated stations and 9 underground stations, is expected to be operational in March 2023. The test runs for this route was completed on 18 December 2022.
Once opened, the entire Putrajaya Line will house 36 stations spanning over 56.2 km and served by 49 units of four car train sets capable of carrying up to 1,200 passengers. Passengers would also have the option of hopping on to other existing rail lines at 10 different interchange stations.
The interchange stations are Kwasa Damansara (with Kajang MRT Line), Sungai Buloh (with KTM), Sri Damansara Timur (with KTM), Kampung Batu (with KTM), Titiwangsa (with Ampang & Sri Petaling LRT Lines, KL Monorail), Ampang Park (with Kelana Jaya LRT Line), Tun Razak Exchange (with Kajang MRT Line), Chan Sow Lin (with Ampang & Sri Petaling LRT Lines), Sungai Besi (with Sri Petaling LRT Line) and Putrajaya Sentral (with ERL and KLIA Transit Lines).
For the ease of passenger, there will be 5,870 parking bays made available across the 15 stations along the alignment. Having said that, technically the entire Klang Valleys train line still suffers from lack of efficient first and last mile connectivity which would help eliminate the dependence driving to these stations.
