In a recent Home Ministry press conference, Minister of Home Affairs Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had reconfirmed that the government has approved RM30-million allocation towards procurement of body cameras. These body cameras are intended to be used by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

Saifuddin added further that he hopes the body camera procurement could be expedited as it is now highly necessary for the police force. He added that he has instructed the Home Affairs Ministries secretary-general to look into the matter.

Datuk Seri Saifuddin made these statements during his visit to Bukit Aman, he too said that the Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC) Bill 2020, Saifuddin said it will come into force in June next year.

On another note, somehow the officers from the Ministry Of Health (MOH) as reported by Malay Mail have obtained their body camera before the police force in view of the same goal which is to ensure the officers safety and uphold transparency while on duty.
