The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is one of the world’s most anticipated and influential tech events, where tech companies are given the limelight to showcase some of their best cutting-edge future consumer techs to the public. Aside from tech giants flaunting their prototype robots and smartphones, CES also garners automakers – especially EV marques – to showcase both their concept and upcoming models for the masses to get excited with.

As one of the automakers making their names in both tech and EV games, Volkswagen is poised to debut its latest electric vehicle in the upcoming CES 2023. Though VW has yet to disclose the exact model to be debuted, as for now, word around the campfire suggested that the production version of the ID.Aero concept debuted in June 2023 might be it.

According to Motor1, the ID.Aero concept, also known as the Aero B, is an electric saloon that is set to dethrone the Arteon as the marque’s flagship sedan in key EV markets such as the US, China and Europe. With numerous spy shots showcasing the ID.Aero doing road tests circulated online, the road-legal ID.Aero sedan won’t look far-off from its concept.
Should Volkswagen decide to continue with its ID’s nomenclature, the production version of the ID.Aero concept could be called the ID.7.

During the ID.Aero’s debut, Volkswagen claimed that the concept version boasts a 0.23 drag coefficient that helps in boosting its travel range. Underpinning VW’s MEB platform, the ID.Aero concept packs a 77-kWh lithium-ion battery pack that supplies up to 620 KM of travel range.

Though no exact specifications were detailed during said debut, the road-legal ID.Aero could be boasting powertrain spec that mirrors its soon-to-be SUV sibling, the ID.4 EV. For the record, the US-spec ID.4 EV crossover comes with either a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) single motor or an all-wheel-drive (AWD) dual motor variants that deliver 201 HP (150 kW) and 295 HP (220 kW) respectively.

Aside from the ID.4 crossover, Volkswagen's current ID line-up consists of the ID.3 hatchback, the Europe-special ID.5 coupe crossover, the China-only ID.6 full-sized SUV, as well as the ID.Buzz minivan. Should this revelation come fruitful, the road-legal ID.Aero, or the ID.7, is poised to be VW’s first-ever production EV saloon, thus completing the ID line-up altogether.

Putting all the speculations and rumours out of the equation, this new Volkswagen EV will make its global debut in the upcoming CES 2023. Only by then we’ll get to know the exact model debuting, as well as the specifications it’ll boast.
The Consumer Electronics Show 2023 is set to take place from Jan 5 to 8, 2023, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, US. For more updates on new cars launching at the CES 2023 and more auto-related news, stay tuned at Caricarz.com…
