Malaysia & Singapore Signs Framework of Cooperation To Explore Electric Vehicle & Autonomous Vehicle Mobility
Malaysia has entered into its first Green Economy FoC (Frameworks on Cooperation) with Singapore making it the first green economy agreement signed with any country by far. There were two frameworks signed for Digital Economy Cooperation and Green Economy Cooperation by the Minister of International Trade and Industry YB Tengku Zafrul and Minister of Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
On the automotive front, these FoC collaborations would further explore both subjects of electric vehicle (EV) and autonomous vehicle (AV) mobility between both countries. A major part of this would be the exploration of both the EV charging standards and charging point between both the countries.
According to Tengku Zafrul, Malaysia welcomes cooperation with Singapore in technical knowledge for regulatory requirements for electric vehicles (EVs), autonomous vehicles and green economy initiatives such as carbon credits and others.
He further added, "This includes the standardisation of industry guidelines, technical requirements, codes of conduct, laws and regulations as well as capacity building programs," with this, residents of both countries would be able to experience seamless EV charging networks when travelling.
