PJ City Bus To Make QR Code Scanning Mandatory Effective 2023

Starting next year, customers will be required to scan a QR code twice when using the PJ City Bus according to the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ). Commuters will have to download an app, scan a QR code on the bus, pick how many adult and children passes they require, and then show it to the driver before they can sit down beginning in January 2023. They will then have to use the app again to scan the QR code before getting off. In the comments section of its Facebook post, MBPJ has clarified that PJ City Bus will not require QR code scanning for minors or senior citizens. Aside from that, foreigners will be charged 90 sen to use the buses from January 15, 2023.

However, it appears that non-citizens must use CEPat's in-app tokens, which can be acquired for a minimum of RM10, to pay for the PJ City Bus fare. It's unclear whether the service will accept alternative payment methods.
