The Bridgestone Tyres In The Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato Are Pretty Special

As the first ever all-terrain supercar to bear the fabled raging bull badge, it was only natural for the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato to warrant a pretty special set of tyres. Fortunately, the Sant’Agata-based purveyor of super sportscars – and SUVs – got what they needed thanks to Bridgestone.

In fact, the Dueler AT002 primed as standard on the Huracan Sterrato aren’t your regular off-the-shelf tyres. Instead, it was specially-developed by the Japanese tyremaker in collaboration with Lamborghini. Bridgestone actually offers two different tyres for the limited-run supercar. Next to the Dueler AT002, a winter fitment called the Blizzak LM005 will also be made available soon.

"We’ve created a tyre that is just as capable at high speeds on asphalt as it is when driving off-road, providing high-speed stability and off-road capability, rising to meet a completely different set of challenges on mud, gravel, and demanding terrains,” said Steven De Bock, Bridgestone's VP of Consumer Replacement.

Noteworthy is the fact that the AT002 is the world's first all-terrain tyre that’s also a run-flat type  designed specifically for supercar use. It's constructed using a proprietary blend of polymers, creating a new compound for optimal grip with a special shoulder to offer more grip in gravel and mud.

Complementing that is the tread pattern designed for both high-speed performance and handling whilst still delivering impressive off-road bite. Should a puncture occur, Bridgestone says the Dueler AT002 can cover up to 50 miles (approx. 80 KM) at about 80 KM/H with zero air pressure in the tyre.

Impressively, the aforementioned high-speed run-flat ability is delivered whilst keeping the tyre in a low-profile format for typical supercar applications. As for sizing, Bridgestone makes the Dueler AT002 in two sizes, those being 235/40 ZR19 for the front set, followed by a wider 285-profile sizes for the rear set.

In short, these are impressive tyres indeed, more so considering the fact that they are tasked with handling the 602 HP and 560 NM outputs of the Huracan Sterrato’s stratospheric 5.2-litre V10 mill, as well as ensuring its ability to despatch 0-100 KM/H in just 3.4 seconds.

By the way, this isn’t the first time that Lamborghini has partnered with Bridgestone. The tyremaker had also developed tyres especially for the Sterrato’s other cousins, namely the Evo, STO and Tecnica variants of the Huracan.
