- Bandaraya-Masjid Jamek LRT Line Closed For Two Weeks - Loke
According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook, the Ampang LRT line will be closed between the Bandaraya and Masjid Jamek stations for about two weeks.
"We anticipate a two-week interruption in service on the line connecting these two stations.
"We will reopen the line between these two stations as soon as it is safe to do so. I apologise to all impacted commuters," he said during a press conference on Wednesday in Klang (Feb 1).
According to Loke, structural issues compelled the closure of the stretch on January 28.
We had to shut down the line between these two stations because there is a small crack between them, explained Loke.
He continued by saying that commuters could still reach the Masjid Jamek or Bandaraya stations via the LRT line, which was still in service.
However, passengers must take the shuttle bus to get from Masjid Jamek to Bandaraya, according to Loke.
More than 200 Prasarana employees, he claimed, would be put to work helping commuters and making repairs to the line.
Prasarana will fix the crack, and we've hired a negotiator to see how the building can be fixed as quickly as possible, according to Loke. According to Rapid Rail, the route between Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya stations had to be shut down last Friday (Jan. 28) due to safety concerns.
For commuters, shuttle services and alternative bus services are available.
