New 2023 Toyota Vios AC100 Leaked Online – Orders Open, Est. RM90k-96K
This is it, your first glimpse and details of the upcoming new fourth-gen Toyota Vios sub-compact sedan teased earlier this week - not once but twice! Besides key specifications, we also have what appears to be tentative pricing for the new B-segment sedan fighter – between RM90,000 and RM96,000.
Bearing the chassis code of AC100, all signs point towards UMW Toyota introducing just two variants for now, those being the base E and higher-specced G grades. It appears that the bare bones J grade offered prior has been dropped, along with the sporty GR Sport variant, though we reckon the latter will be re-introduced at a later stage.
Also absent here are signs of a possible petrol-electric hybrid variant. Rumours were rife about UMW Toyota planning such a variant, though it appears this might also come at a later stage. For now, though, it seems just the E and G grades will be up on offer, and credible sources have confirmed with CariCarz.com that bookings can now be placed through authorised dealers.
Another look at the new 2023 Toyota Vios (AC100) when it leaked earlier this week through a celebrity's now-deleted Instagram post.
So, what’s in store with the new Vios AC100 that’s now based on the winning Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform? Plenty. Key to this is the new fastback-like styling instead of the traditional squared, three-box sedan motif. Boding well with this are the new 17-inch alloy wheels it will roll on, presumably for the higher-specced G grade.
Other key features highlighted in the leaked brochure include rear air-cond vents – offered for the first time in the Vios – plus an electronic parking brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold (AHB). There’s also a new 9-inch infotainment screen primed offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus 3D Panoramic View Monitor.
On the powertrain front, it appears almost certain that the outgoing model’s 1.5-litre 4-cyl Dual VVT-i petrol mill will be retained, as will the CVT box paired with it. However, it will be tweaked for this new AC100 generation – a fact evident through the promise of three selectable drive modes present (Power, Eco, Normal).
Of course, the biggest advantage of the DNGA platform lies in safety. Based on the leaked details, the new Vios AC100 is set to feature a Pre-collision System, both Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Prevention (LKAS) plus Lane Keeping Control, Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA), automatic high-beam, as well as an Adaptive cruise control (ACC) suite with Front Departure Alert.

Lastly, five exterior hues will be available including silver, blue, pearl white, red, and black. As usual, a 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty from UMW Toyota will be included. At the time of writing, UMW Toyota has yet to release any official details, nor has it updated its website yet, but we’ll have more once the firm does.
So, what do you folks think of the new fourth-gen Toyota Vios, then? Could this be your B-segment sedan of choice over the rivalling Honda City and Nissan Almera? Hit the comments below with your thoughts…

At last, UMW Toyota has issued an official press release confirming what we initially reported above. To recap, just two variants will be available for now, with bookings now open through all authorised dealers nationwide at the tentative price of RM90,000 (E Grade) and RM96,000 (G Grade).
As initially speculated, both the 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i powerplant and 7-speed CVT box paired with it from the outgoing car are retained. The package has been further improved with the addition of three selectable drive modes plus steering-mounted paddle-shifters. The firm also confirmed that the model will be assembled locally (CKD).
Also, besides the 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty reported, 24SEVEN Road Assist and 3 years of free subscription for the Toyota Vehicle Telematics System, which always monitors the car’s location, will be included too. Lastly, UMW Toyota didn’t release full images of the car, but they did drop a host of new teaser images featuring its new ‘Spicy Scarlet’ hero colour.
