Rapid KL FREE Bus Service From KL Sentral To Parliament Beginning 20 Feb 2023

Earlier in the month Transportation Minister, YB Anthony Loke announced that he is looking into mobilising free public transportation for all parliament attendees heading to  parliament grounds during every sitting to ease the congestion issue. He was targeting for these free shuttle services to roll out by the 13 Feb Parliament sitting.

However, the 13 Feb roll out did not materialise, but Rapid KL announced yesterday that this free shuttle service would now begin this coming 20 Feb to 6 Apr 2023. The bus dedicated for this parliament route would be the T851 that would have pickup and drop-offs at KL Sentral (ERL Departure Lounge), Taman Botani Perdana (near the multi-storey car park) and Parliament (near the cafeteria).

These free shuttle services would be made available from Monday to Friday, 7am to 8pm. The buses would have a frequency of 30 minutes during peak hours (7am to 10am and 4.30pm to 8pm) and 60 minutes during off-peak hours (10am to 4pm). The bus service would begin at 7am for departure from KL Sentral and 7.30am from Parliament.

With these shuttle buses, Loke hopes all parliament attendees would make full use of it to join in and reduce the unnecessary congestion there. Loke mentioned before, "When Parliament is in session, 2,000 to 4,000 people enter the building. Just imagine, there are 222 MPs, and this excludes the staff, members of the media and other officers.”
