- New Beam Mobility Central Warehouse Opens In Subang Jaya
Beam General Manager, Justin Tiew in Beam's Central Warehouse in Subang Jaya
Beam Mobility Malaysia has announced its new opening of the central warehouse in Subang Jaya, Selangor. Aside from operating in cities like Kuantan and Langkawi, Beam Malaysia also operates in other major areas like Kuala Lumpur, Ampang Jaya, as well as Petaling Jaya before expanding to multiple other regions.
This new central warehouse is operated by a team of full-time staff including technicians and supervisors which are responsible to service an average of 30 units of Beam e-scooters on a daily basis. Aside from that, the large facility will be used as Beam's main distribution, restoration, and hardware testing hub in Malaysia.
In addition to provide a robust supply of fully charged batteries for its e-scooters’ fleet, the 8,000 square foot facility will further serve as the primary hub to receive overseas shipment and send out spare parts to other Beam warehouses in Malaysia.
Each of the Beam e-scooters is outfitted with a GPS-tracking Internet of Things (IoT) device. Through this inset, Beam is allowed to keep track of its systems that could alert the Beam team when an e-scooter returns to the warehouse for maintenance works.
Other features implemented such as the IoT device also enables Beam to know exactly which e-scooters need to be tended to, its exact location for pick-up, and gives them the ability to take an e-scooter “offline” via the Beam App.
“This warehouse enables us to have an efficient supply chain for Beam’s services and continue creating job opportunities, especially in the gig economy,” said General Manager Of Beam Mobility Malaysia, Justin Tiew.
Tiew also remarked that this creates more opportunities for local talents to find jobs as Beam Rangers, the on-ground operations team who regularly patrol the streets of Klang Valley to collect, distribute, and maintain Beam’s shared e-scooters.
Last but not least, with the new central warehouse, any unusable parts to be found during the repair works, Beam claims to actively source for reliable partners and have these parts recycled plus effectively reduce wastage.
