No, you read that right, folks. The Toyota Alphard luxury MPV will soon be a playable car in the famed Gran Turismo 7 driving game. The model was teased, alongside four other cars, that are set for introduction into the Sony Playstation-exclusive title through an upcoming update that drops this week.
Despite the darkened teaser image, there’s no hiding the Alphard’s prominent grille design and boxy silhouette, no matter how faint it is. No details were released officially but based on the model’s real-world availability in Japan, we can likely expect the Alphard to debut in the game in its most powerful form featuring a 3.5-litre V6 heart with 300 HP and 362 NM outputs, and perhaps all-wheel-drive (AWD) too.
Noteworthy too is the fact that the Alphard will stand as the first MPV to be featured in the title.
If you’ve ever been curious about how a luxury-oriented people-moving barge such as the Alphard fares when taken onto world famous circuits like Fuji Speedway, Tsukuba, or even the famed ‘Green Hell’ that is the Nürburgring Nordschleife, you will soon be able find out virtually through Gran Turismo 7.
Besides the Alphard, the teaser image also shows four new cars set for induction into the game too. Amongst them is the 2019/2020 Audi RS5 DTM racecar, the famed 1986 Porsche 959 and the 1964 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS, not forgetting what appears to be the hatchback version of the Mazda 3.
Of course, this latest teaser doesn’t reveal any of the other contents that usually come with major updates as such. We can likely expect other new features, changes, bug fixes, or perhaps a new circuit or two. We’ll have more information once the update officially rolls out this week.
