BYD China has revealed the official images for its upcoming compact EV, the BYD Seagull. This compact car would still have the e-platform 3.0 underpinnings but would feature a choice of either the 74 HP or 100 HP motor powered by its proprietary LFP Blade battery. There were earlier reports that the Seagull could be BYD’s very first EV to feature the sodium-ion battery.
The BYD Seagull would be priced between RM51,200 (USD11,600) to RM69,000 (USD15,600) and is capable of a top speed of 130 km/h. It would also have a CLTC rated range of 405 KM.
As for the dimension, the BYD Seagull which is part of the BYD Ocean Series of vehicles would measure 3780 mm (length), 1715 mm (width), 1540 mm (height) with a wheelbase of 2500 mm. The compact EV would feature a hatch design and is strictly a four (4) seater. For comparison sake, the BYD Seagull would be roughly the size of a Perodua Axia in Malaysia.
Based on reports by CarNewsChina, the BYD Seagull would have two battery options, either the 305 KM, 30kWh or the 405 KM, 38kWh and would be officially revealed during the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show on April 18, 2023.
