The Johor state government announces its plans to solve issues pertaining traffic congestion at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex.

This includes five immediate initiatives to deal with said matter. According to Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, the efforts will involve all counters being fully operational during peak hours as well as rotation of employees shifts done outside peak hours.

He further said the merging of zone A, B, C, and D vehicle counters at the BSI facility will be completed by next July at the latest.

There’s also other matters like the lack of immigration staff and administrative matters that require immediate action, especially employees' OT (overtime work) issues.

Last measures include the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) and Public Works Department (JKR) to continue monitoring the work of concession companies in terms of public facilities including assets at BSI and the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex.

“However, I am aware of the constraints experienced by the state Immigration Department and the federal one” he said through a post on his official Facebook page after monitoring the situation at BSI CIQ together with Immigration deputy director-general (control division) Datu Ken Anak Leben earlier.

Following that, he assures with strategic and continuous cooperation between all parties, the issue of congestion on both routes between Johor and Singapore could be settled effectively.
