Thanks to a statement issued to customers earlier this week that we sighted by chance, CariCarz.com has learnt that Ferrari has appointed Ital Auto Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Ital Auto) as its new Malaysian distributor. According to said communique, the appointment is said to take effect beginning May 5, 2023.

Ital Auto is part of the Singapore-based multi-franchise Komoco group owned by Singapore-based Malaysian billionaire Ong Beng Seng. The firm’s appointment was somewhat expected given it already stands as authorised Ferrari importers in said island republic just across our southern causeway since 2009.

Besides Ferrari, Komoco also handles a number of other auto brands in the Singaporean market. Included in the list are Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, as well as Hyundai. Besides this, Komoco also owns and operates a number of Ferrari, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo dealerships and service outlets in Shanghai, China.

Word has it that Ital Auto Malaysia are in the midst of constructing a new Ferrari showroom located in Glenmarie, Shah Alam.

With the bulk of Naza Italia's staff transferred over to Ital Auto, the latter firm has also taken over existing deposits and bookings for new Ferrari models.

“Ital Auto has been the official importer and distributor of Ferrari in Singapore since 2009, and has proven to be an effective and reliable partner by delivering exceptional customer experiences and quality services to our clients. We are confident that our customer base in Malaysia and the region will continue to be well served,” said Ferrari’s Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer Enrico Galliera in the statement released to customers this week.

The company further adds that Ital Auto will take over Naza Italia’s existing client deposits and bookings for Ferrari vehicles. CariCarz.com has learnt that the bulk of the latter former distributor’s workforce has transferred over to Ital Auto, perhaps explaining this takeover of said existing sale deposits and bookings.

With Ital Auto’s new Malaysian arm still in the midst of setting up shop, other details remain unclear for now. However, word has it that the firm will soon operate out of a new but still under construction showroom outlet located in Glenmarie, Shah Alam.

We will have more details regarding the new distributor’s operations as soon as it is made available.
