- Jalan Maarof-Jalan Semantan Highway Will Open On July 1

New elevated highway connecting Jalan Maarof and Jalan Semantan in Kuala Lumpur will open on July 1.
According to a statement issued to StarMetro by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), only two of the highway's three lanes will be opened.
The third lane will not be accessible until December.
The 1.34-kilometer highway is part of an alternate route from Petaling Jaya to the capital city.
This highway will include an exit from the flyover to Jalan Maarof in Bangsar.
Currently, motorists from Petaling Jaya must make a U-turn beneath the highway to reach Jalan Maarof.
The U-turn will be removed once the highway is open.
Sprint Highway stated in March that the two lanes would be open in May to relieve traffic congestion in the area.
In a media statement, DBKL stated that work on the final lane would be completed by November and would open in December.
According to reliable sources, the project contractor was unable to meet the May deadline due to earlier restrictions against lane closure, which had impacted critical bridge work.
In December 2017, the multi-million ringgit project got underway.
Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, then Federal Territories Minister, launched it in March 2018.
It was estimated to cost RM211 million, with DBKL, Pavilion, and UKAS (Public-Private Partnership Unit) sharing the construction costs.
It was supposed to be finished by June 2020, but the deadline kept getting pushed back.
