- JPJ Bodycam Study - 3 Suppliers Vying For Contract
![]()
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is currently in a feasibility study stage regarding the use of Body Worn Cameras (BWC) (or bodycam) for its enforcement officers.
Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah states that the study involves implementing a series of Proof of Concept (POC) to assess various aspects. This includes legislation, operation, and effectiveness in enhancing integrity during enforcement activities.
"The use of Body Worn Cameras by JPJ enforcement officers is currently under study by the Ministry of Transport (MOT). MOT believes that the adoption of BWCs can not only enhance the integrity of JPJ enforcement but also protect officers from baseless accusations or allegations by irresponsible parties," he said in response to a question by Senator Aziz Ariffin.

According to Hasbi, for the time being three companies have offered POC to JPJ, which are being implemented in stages. The study is expected to conclude by September 30th, and a comprehensive report will be submitted to MOT for further processing.
