- Report: Chery Malaysia Will Open 30 New Dealerships This Year

Chery is making a serious comeback into our local automotive market, as the brand is poised to launch two new SUVs – Chery Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro – in the country later in July 6 this year. To provide ample support for these new models, the marque is also working to expand its local dealership network extensively this year.
We at Caricarz.com has been informed by a spokesperson from Chery Malaysia that the marque is planning to open 30 new dealership branches nationwide, with most of them set to be open once the two new models launched later next month. This number will easily cover all major cities not only in Peninsula Malaysia, but also in East Malaysia as well.

Chery Malaysia's country director Leo Chen
Aside from that, Chery Malaysia’s country director Leo Chen also confirmed in a special media event today that this new dealership network will cover both Peninsula and East Malaysia, with more dealerships set to be opened much later this year. Should Chery Malaysia manage to meet this projection, then the marque’s dealership network will be on par with other established brands that will soon be its rivals.

The CKD Chery Omoda 5 B-SUV will make its local debut next month
Prior to this, Chery Malaysia also previously announced a new partnership with Inokom to locally-assemble (CKD) Chery models for the Malaysian market. This is a rather bold move by an automotive brand that ‘newly’ enters our local market, where most of them opted to fully-import (CBU) their fleets before making efforts to CKD them.

As for their two new models, we’ve extensively covered the specs of the soon-to-be-launched Chery Omoda 5 B-SUV and Chery Tiggo 8 Pro three-row SUV before, and we can expect the launch cars will follow the specs available on the preview units. Aside from that, there’s nothing much left to be known about the two new models, except for its starting prices – which will be unveiled later during its July 6th launching.
Both the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro will be the trailblazer to the burgeoning China-brand SUVs that will enter into our market soon. So, do you think these two Chery SUVs can put up a fight against the likes of Proton X series SUVs, as well as other Japanese SUVs available out there? How much would be an ideal price for such SUVs? As always, hit the comments below with your thoughts…
