- Singapore BMW Car Club Apologises For Clogging Penang Bridge
Police are investigating a Singaporean BMW car club for clogging traffic on the Second Penang Bridge on June 9 with their massive car convoy.
DSP Mohd Norazmi Abd Ghapar, acting police chief of Seberang Perak Selatan district, said the convoy of BMW cars was headed to Batu Maung on Penang island and that a police report had been filed.
He stated that an investigation is underway because an offence of traffic obstruction was committed in violation of the Road Transport Rules 1959.
"We will not make any concessions to anyone who commits a traffic violation."
BMW Car Club Singapore has apologised for the incident and has pledged to fully cooperate with Malaysian authorities.
"We sincerely apologise and acknowledge a mistake that was made on our part, and to reassure everyone of our unwavering commitment to cooperation with the local authorities," it said in a Facebook post.
